The history of the estate

Located in Magnac-sur-Touvre, on the banks of the Touvre River, the Domaine de Belisle combines history and nature.

Once the residence of the Bishops of Angoulême, it later became the estate of prominent local families.

Its meadows, wooded islands, and ancient remains—such as the former mill and the stone bridge—bear witness to a rich and living past.

Today, the estate welcomes its visitors into an enchanting setting, where heritage, tranquility, and unspoiled nature come together.

The Islands

Subtle pathways run along the canal, guiding visitors from island to island: Île Secrète, Île de la Mission, Île Longue, Île aux Oiseaux and Île Ronde.
This chain of small islands stretches along more than 2 km of riverbanks and is home to protected wildlife and flora, unique in the Charente region.
